STUDIO MITSUI

Studio Mitsui is our Beit Midrash — our “House of Learning” —
for Jewish Embodiment.

Studio is where we learn, connect, and practice.

What is Studio Mitsui?

Studio Mitsui is a community for embodied learning and holistic wellness

A person in a black tank top and pants is smiling and crouching on a wooden floor in a yoga studio. Blue yoga straps hang on the wall in the background, and sunlight streams through a window, casting shadows.

All our work at Mitsui Collective is grounded in Jewish values of equity, justice, compassion, and belonging. In Studio, we express these values by proactively building a community that cultivates genuine and authentic relationships across difference through the connective power of embodiment.

Studio practice revolves primarily on the Mitsui Method — our evolving system of embodied alchemy that blends ancient Jewish wisdom with modern knowledge and learning pedagogies. [Read more about Mitsui Method here]

We integrate movement, breathwork, contemplative practice, and more in alignment with the nature-based cycles of the Jewish calendar. Our work is counter-oppressive at our core. We strive to be an inclusive and welcoming space supporting every-body in our physical and spiritual sustenance and nourishment.

Studio Mitsui provides both online and in-person opportunities to get into practice together. Scroll down to learn more about how to get involved with our local work at Studio Mitsui Cleveland and access our virtual offerings from anywhere through Studio Mitsui Online.

Mitsui Martial Arts

Martial Arts practice cultivates the embodiment of power, flow, strength, and rootedness. At Studio Mitsui, martial arts offer invaluable practice in Mitsui Method principles including embodied chevruta (partnership learning), centeredness, building and staying in relationship, and balancing dual energies (for example, chesed / lovingkindness and gevurah / strength and boundary).

Tai Chi
Tuesdays — 12-1 PM
Sha’Ran Studios (Larchmere)

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese mind-body practice combining slow, flowing movements, in alignment with breath and energy flow (qi) to foster harmony between mind, body, and spirit. Originating as a martial art but now widely practiced for health, balance, strength, flexibility, and stress reduction, Tai Chi is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Classes focus on 24-Form Yang style Tai Chi and also include a range of partner practices and Qi Gong techniques for energy cultivation and flow, breathwork, and stillness practice.

What’s included in Studio Mitsui Online Membership?

Classes have now started!

All-inclusive Founding Memberships are still available for our online Studio offerings. Currently this includes two weekly 30-minute classes — designed to work with the cycles of nature and the body, from the micro-cycles of every inhale and exhale to the macro-cycles of the seasons from summer to winter and everything in between.

Nashuv (נָשׁוּב: Return / Restore) — gentle, meditative movement focusing on flow, rest and renewal. Nashuv aligns with the exhale — the quieter, restful phases of the embodiment cycle. [Thursdays at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET]

Nimratz (נמְרַץ: Energize / Invigorate) — active movement work, including organic strength work, locomotion, coordination, speed, and power. Nimratz aligns with the inhale — the more active, high-energy and higher-intensity phases of the embodiment cycle. [Mondays at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET]

Recordings of all live sessions are available shortly following each session, also available to members via the Studio platform

We expect to add additional class-times as our community and capacity grows.
